A palette of whites, deep blues, and gold creates an elegant atmosphere in the formal living room, which was designed by Rachel Duarte. The designer established two seating areas within the space, including a cozy gathering spot with chaise longues that flank the original carved marble fireplace. The room’s coffered ceilings were enhanced with a faux-wood decorative painting by Jhon Ardilla. Designer Mark Hermogeno paid tribute to Silver Queen Susanna Bransford Emery-Holmes in the kitchen, butler’s pantry, family room, powder room, and mudroom. “We wanted to concentrate on polished nickels and polished chromes to get that silver feel back in,” he says of the fixtures, hardware, and lighting by Kohler and Kallista. Hermogeno and designer Lynette Chin brought in a mix of vintage and new furnishings in the family room, incorporating performance fabrics for durability.

Landscape architect Elisa Read Pappaterra filled the center fountain with cascading succulents. The landmark mansion was built in 1902 by architect Joseph J. Blick for Gertrude Potter Daniels, who paid $15,000 for the shingle-style home. In 1905, Susanna Bransford Emery-Holmes—known as the Silver Queen thanks to the source of her late husband’s fortune—purchased the home and soon made it her own. In 1922, she spent $37,000 to have the Postle Company of Los Angeles, who also built the Pasadena Playhouse, remodel it into an English Tudor Revival–style mansion, giving it the regal exterior that remains today. Another seating area with views of the garden was designed for more intimate dining, games, or meetings, and it’s illuminated by a Murano glass chandelier. At the far end of the room, Levine installed a lush purple sofa with cocktail tables, creating the perfect spot for drinks, dessert, or relaxing with a cup of coffee. “I’m all about gardens connecting the architecture into the landscape,” landscape architect Timothy John Palcic tells AD PRO. He used a limited palette of chartreuse and dark hues that nod to the brick exterior and arranged benches to create intimate seating areas within the larger English-garden-inspired space. A brick-walled patio became a party-ready outdoor kitchen and dining area thanks to Douglas R. Santicola of Outdoor Elegance. Santicola and Monique Wood installed Caesarstone countertops fabricated by Carlito’s Way Stone to create a functional space for outdoor entertaining.

As the Pasadena Showcase House of Design enters its 59th year, it’s returning to a familiar setting. The Potter Daniels Manor, the English Tudor Revival–style residence that hosted the 1975 and 1996 showcase houses, has been reimagined with 30 new interior and exterior spaces for the 2024 edition, which is now open until May 19. Designer Stephanie Hatten updated the Gatehouse Kitchen, turning it into an airy English-country-inspired space. An eye-catching natural stone by Walker Zanger was selected for the counters and backsplash, and the space was outfitted with the latest Monogram appliances.

“One of the main things we did was add a window seat, which looks like it should always have been here,” Slesinski says. “Our whole goal with this space was basically to turn the lights on in the room, bring in the garden that’s outside, and kind of have an experience of a breath of fresh air,” Brosio says. Hand-painted floors were the jumping-off point for designer Amy Peltier’s soothing primary bedroom design.

The designer referenced the house’s original name, El Robles—Spanish for oak tree—with a tree-filled landscape mural by Arpy Dabbaghian. “For the wall mural, I had to pick something to bring them into nature and a calming environment,” Lalikian says. Samatha Williams’s Tearoom in the Gatehouse is brimming with vintage charm and elegant accents. Working with Jacqueline Black and Michelle Porreca, Williams brought in a Chinoiserie wall covering to give the space a garden-like atmosphere. Maria Videla-Juniel, who designed the primary bathroom of the main house, also devised a welcoming entry to the Gate House. A Thibault wall covering graces the entry, and a Fibreworks runner leads guests up the stairs.

Cynthia Silverman created a nursery fit for a prince or princess, incorporating golden accents and whimsical touches, such as the hot-air balloon light and animal figurines. She complimented the vibrant hue with metallic accents, Roman shades in a Morris & Co. fabric, and chairs upholstered in a moss green textile by Wesley Hall Fabrics. Native California wildflowers accent the Arroyo Vista Garden, which was designed with fire safety in mind.

Jerome Thiebault created a polished and petite bathroom complete with storage and a shower. Troweled cement plaster was applied to the walls, and handcrafted Zia tile adds pattern to the floor. Designer Lara Hovanessian packed plenty of bold design elements into the powder room and adjacent lounge. A moody House of Hackney floral wall covering lines the dressing area, which leads to a powder room accented with a Kelly Wearstler’s Graffito II from Walnut Wallpaper.

Cozy Stylish Chic Creative Director Jeanne K. Chung and designers Angela Lee and Caroline Meloche brightened the dark wood-paneled library to create a space where residents can unplug. Wallpaper was added to the ceiling and the backs of the bookcases, and heavy wood blinds were replaced with soft draperies and Roman shades to make the space feel lighter. The firm used a mix of fabrics and wall coverings by Ralph Lauren Home from Designers Guild throughout the space. Designers Frank Slesinski and Serena Brosio collaborated on the charming living room in the Gatehouse.

“[We made] sure that it was a really usable room, that it didn’t just look nice,” Hermogeno says. “I really feel like the dining room is a forgotten room,” says the designer, who set out to prove how vital the space is to a home. The room is anchored by a Riva 1920 table made with the wood of a 50,000-year-old Kauri tree, which Levine surrounded with seating for 12.

Charleston Cruise Port: Terminal, Overview and What to Do

how much is uber from seattle airport to cruise port

The Uber/Lyft pick up area (for returning/disembarking passengers) for Seattle's Pier 91 has been revamped and improved. Passengers who plan to use Uber/Lyft after their cruise will still walk the .04 mile (or take the shuttle) to meet their Uber/Lyft driver & car. It is a 7-10 minute walk from the terminal building along a pedestrian walkway along the side the road - just follow the signs, or ask a pier staff member for directions. There is also a shuttle bus available as you exit the building on the right-side of the ground transportation area (look for the buses).

Shuttle Buses

We did self assist so it was early but it was a fairly quick process. There has definitely been a flat rate from Pier 91 to the airport for many years prior to Covid. There was signage announcing the policy outside the Terminal at the time. This series of colorful, historic houses are lined along Tradd Street. It’s a popular destination for carriage tours and is located less than 2 miles from the cruise port. Charleston’s lack of skyscrapers and other types of tall buildings gives the entire city an older look and feel.

Step 2: Choose Your Uber Option

You should tip Uber and Lyft drivers between 10 and 20 percent based on quality of service. According to HyreCar, Uber and Lyft drivers make less than $15 an hour when driver costs are considered. In Seattle, Lyft is not as much used as Uber, and its user interface and service are not quite as good as Uber’s. My experience has been that Uber drivers tend to more knowledgeable about the city than Lyft drivers. If you’re sailing from Pier 66 or simply want to get downtown and save some cash, then the Link Right Rail is a great option.

Where do I meet my Lyft or Uber upon arrival at SEA?

If your route or destination changes on trip, your fare may change based on the rates above and other applicable taxes, tolls, charges and adjustments. Subject to Lyft’s Terms of Service.See below for more information. The cheapest way to get from Seattle Airport to the Vancouver Cruise Terminal is the Quick Shuttle bus. It provides direct transportation between Seatac and Canada Place starting at just $47.00 USD. The bus is the most cost-effective option, while the Amtrak Cascades train and Vancouver seaplane both provide a unique and scenic experience.

Since there is no drop off/pick up at Bell Street Terminal, trying to get a Uber is a real pain, chasing cars down the street with your luggage. Sample fares are estimates only and do not reflect variations due to discounts, traffic delays or other factors. You agree to pay the fare shown upon confirming your ride request.

If the hotel does not offer a courtesyshuttle service to downtown Seattle, you can use a taxi, Uber or hop aboard theLink Light Railway. Get off at University Street Station on 3rd Avewhich is close to Pier 66 Bell Street Cruise Terminal or Pioneer Square whichis just a short walk from the new Pier 46 cruise terminal. Many cruise lines offer a cruise transfer service betweenSeattle Airport and the cruise port.

How Much Does It Cost to Take an Uber From Seattle Airport to Cruise Terminal?

Firstly, be sure to book your Vancouver seaplane ticket in advance. Once you board the floatplane, prepare for an unforgettable experience soaring above the stunning Pacific Northwest scenery. Once you arrive at the Pacific Central Station in Vancouver, you’ll be ready to explore the city or head straight to the Vancouver Cruise Port.

This surge pricing is designed to incentivize more drivers to come online and meet the demand. The wait for my Uber was minimal, approximately 5 minutes, thanks to the abundance of available drivers in the area. It’s always a good idea to check with the port authorities or signage at the terminal to ensure you know where to meet your Uber driver.

Although it is cheap and convenient, the serviceinvolves some walking or a taxi service at either end and it could be difficultfor those with heavy luggage. The easiest and possibly quickest way to get from Seattle Airport to the cruise port is by taxi, Uber or Lyft from the airport. A metered taxi ride would typically cost around $50 for the ride (not per person) so if you are traveling as a group, it can work out quite economically. To further add to the complications, Port of Seattle iscurrently creating a new cruise terminal at Pier 46. It is scheduled to begin to be operationalfor the summer 2020 cruise season.

The cheapest way to reach downtown Seattle is using the Link Light Rail service from Seattle Airport. There is a stop at Westlake Station which is about one mile from Pier 66 Bell Street Cruise Terminal. If you are departing from Pier 91 Smith Cove Cruise Terminal you can get off at University Street Station and get a taxi for the remainder of the journey (about 3 miles).

In general, expect to pay $40-55 each way to get to the port for two adults. More than two adults will see a small additional charge, but minors don’t count (perfect for a family heading on a cruise). To help you find your way, we’ve put together this guide of all your options.

If you want to revel in the city’s unique history, we recommend exploring the historic downtown core. At just over half a mile from the port, you can easily walk to the city center. Spring temperatures usually sit between 60° and 80°F, but rainfall can be an issue. Even though Charleston gets plenty of springtime rain, showers are usually brief, so you can still enjoy exploring the city and everything it has to offer.

Here you can provide your driver with your smartphone ticket, and you’re off to the races. After arriving at Seattle Airport, make your way to the Ground Transportation area and look for the bus stops. You’ll get curbside pickup from the south end of the baggage claim area. Port valet is the right choice, walk off early and go where you want.

Satellite terminals were added north and south of the main building, which passengers reached via a pair of subway loops equipped with driverless automatic shuttle trains. This train was the first of its kind in the nation and opened in 1973 with nine cars. Other improvements included new facilities for fuel, air cargo, and aircraft maintenance. I called Yellow Cab the largest taxi operator around and they do offer a $45 flat rate from Pier 91 to Seatac. While its outside the $40 zone its a very good deal compared with other options.

For budget-conscious travelers, public transit is a great option. Seattle has a well-connected public transit system, including buses and light rail. Taking public transit from the airport to the cruise terminal is not only affordable but also environmentally friendly. To request an Uber from the cruise terminal, all you need is the Uber app on your smartphone.

You’ll walk over this bridge, which leads right to the terminal and then down to go to the entrance. If you want to head directly to the port, then you can get there in about 40 minutes using the Link Light Rail. Seattle has two different ports — Pier 66, located downtown, and Pier 91, located just a few miles north from there. So you can enjoy a comfortable and stylish ride while traveling with your friends or family. Another way to save money on your Uber ride is by using discount codes. Uber often offers promotional codes that can be applied to your fare, providing you with a discount or even a free ride.

Here, you’ll find Charleston City Market, the city’s most visited attraction. Established in the 1790s, the market and the surrounding streets make you feel like you have been transported back in time. The colorful yet muted buildings are adorned with Roman-style columns and other early American architectural features. For shoppers, the market is packed with stalls selling locally-made goods and food items. The humidity can make it feel warmer, so pack light, breathable clothing to explore the city.
